Sinking And Projecting

IMG_7714.JPG

Yesterday I felt like this.

I would like to blame it on my kids but they’re kids and I’m the one that needs to learn how to not sink to their whiny, fighting, sensitive, temperamental level. But sink I do, way down, wanting to throw a tantrum right alongside them.

But today all is still, one boy is sick, which might explain yesterdays troubles.

If anyone out there has any tips or advice on deflecting your kids negative emotions and not projecting them right back around I could really use the input.

Praise the Lord the weekend is here.

Here’s to making time for some stillness.

P.S. I love my boys. They have awesome qualities and times of pure sweetness. I would just like to handle the “bad days” in a better way. Help is welcomed!

Natural Women

IMAG0300.jpg

A new week is here, I hope you had a nice weekend!

Yours truly had an outright grouch-attack on Saturday, I tell you sometimes it’s not easy being a woman. I seem to have these days in the course of the month where I want to go on a long run or take up boxing or even breaking a dish would do, seriously. Overall I have such a blessed life and am really spoiled in a lot of ways, so I usually chalk it up to good ol’ hormones, but it’s still annoying and I wish I’d learn how to handle myself better…my poor husband.

I want to learn more about different foods that can help or to avoid — natural ways to be a nicer woman. : )

I wonder how many other women have “anger issues” or if there’s only a small percentage of us who struggle in this area?

On a happy note, Steve took the boys after we went to church so I could go to a health food store and get some stuff to experiment with this GAPS diet for Wesley mainly, though I bet our whole family could benefit from it.

However, I really don’t think we’d be able to fully follow the diet (take a look, it’s hard hard!) but what I’ve read so far is fascinating and appears to have merit so I’m going to try to implement some aspects of it and see if it helps a little.

I know that’s not the way to do the diet if you want to see the results they talk about, but Wesley doesn’t have any serious health issues or challenges (just sensitive and spirited) so that’s why I’m taking a casual and loosely applied approach.

It does seem very promising if you’ve been looking for something to help your little one or big one or yourself and you’re willing to do the hard work involved.

This week’s gifts:

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

210. homemade sourdough bread
211. growing in understanding my kids needs
212. money to buy some health food
213. finished an excellent book “Seven Days That Divide The World” by John. C. Lennox
214. being reminded that I need God’s Light to see anything properly (otherwise I merely stumble in darkness)
215. the nourishment and healing that healthy foods provide
216. cooler days to look forward to
217. Devin getting a ride to school
218. the gift of forgiveness after I’ve let anger out (in bad ways!)

A happy, healthy and anger-free weekend to you friends!

My Kind Of Cleaning

The boys are upstairs actually playing together in a fairly non-violent way, so I am relatively alone. How I savor these moments. I could run around the house and clean all the parts that really should be cleaned (and sometimes I do), though don’t we need time to clean ours spirits too?

I so need time to be alone with my thoughts. To filter, process, and dispose of all the junk that I accumulate over the course of my days and weeks. It’s really not me doing the cleaning, but unless I make a point to allow myself to be cleansed I tend to get dirtier.

Similar to how when I start cleaning the house I realize how dirty everything is; when I spend time with God I am acutely aware of how much I need to be cleansed.

I love how refreshing it is – the shiny clarity He brings – and unlike my house He doesn’t get overwhelmed at the mess of me and all there is to keep up with.

No, I am never spotless. Ever. The cleaning never ends. Ever.

But once it’s done I feel brighter, this space I inhabit is more livable, and somehow everything else seems more manageable for now.

Don’t you think washing and cleaning, even if it’s never-ending, is worth it?

So here’s to the dirt, the muck, the cleaning, and the amazing feeling of being cleansed and renewed!

Weekend

Started the day off right with a yummy breakfast of diced potatoes & cheesy scrambled eggs. Coffee too, of course.

Listened to a “Focus on the Family” broadcast.

Shopped with my 2 year old. He was almost an angel.

Cleaned some.

Gardened some. “Gardened”, as in with my little plant pots. Still, it makes me happy. I could totally see myself as an avid gardener once my birdies fly the nest.

Gave the Mr. a haircut.

Thankful to be showered & in my pj’s unwinding by reading. And listening to relaxing music.

What’s keeping you busy & happy this weekend?
