Wednesday

It’s raining on & off right now so I need to come up with something for the boys to do.

I must of woke Preston up from his nap during the wrong sleep cycle or something ’cause he hasn’t been happy with me.

We’re fighting colds (mild) & trying to get in good health by the time our friends arrive this Sunday night. Yay! I made the boys some power shakes with frozen berries, bananas, fresh squeezed oj, yogurt, yeast flakes, Super Food, oh & frozen peas. I know that might not sound so appetizing but it’s pretty delicious. Trust me. : )

And that’s my exciting Wednesday update!

I do have some photos that I’ll try to put up soon.

Happy mid-week!

Link Love

I added some of the blogs I visit (see right panel) that I thought you might find interesting & like too. I just love blogs & currently have over 100 in my rss feed.

Now I can’t say I keep up with all of those, but I like having them handy for the day when I can get around to looking at them. And then there are blogs I visit on a near-daily basis.

Hope you enjoy them too!

Do you use a blog feed-reader too?

P.S. Thanks Amy for the reminder. : )

Speech Therapy

Last Friday Wesley (4) had his first speech evaluation. We were excited about the appointment because we knew it would give us direction on what areas he needs help in & how to better meet those needs.

The speech pathologist was very nice & worked with Wesley for over an hour. He did great, whizzed through the majority of questions even though his speech isn’t super clear…I was so proud of him!

I was also relieved & rather surprised to find out that due to his age (& particular pronunciation needs) there’s only some areas they can start working with him on. The other areas he has difficulty with will have to wait until he’s 5 before he can receive speech therapy, if he hasn’t learned to make those sounds on his own by then.

So he’s starting speech therapy once a week for 30 minutes, probably for around 6 months & then we’ll see how he’s doing.

It’s such a blessing & a weight off our shoulders to have this direction. In the grand scheme of things I know it’s a small physical issue compared to what some people go through, but still, it must be frustrating to be misunderstood on a regular basis. We feel bad for him.

If you think of us, any prayers for progress in Wesley’s speech are greatly appreciated!

What I Like About Monday

Okay, so I don’t exactly like Monday’s (Monday through Wednesday really) but thought it might be a good idea to make a point to look for good things on those days.

So here goes what I like about my Monday:

- Running into Old Navy in between grocery shopping to get colorful flip flops (2 for $5!)
- Not having a bad enough cold to keep me from shopping
- Wesley’s stomach bug only lasting one day
- Smoked salmon & mushrooms with alfredo sauce over pasta, glad Steve told me about his eating it while at a restaurant (only takes about 30 minutes to make, yay)
- Last Monday’s Valentine’s dinner with Steve
- A few more weeks of having my mother-in-law here at our house
- Changing furniture around & what a difference it makes
- Discovering a refreshing drink of apple cider vinegar, grated ginger, honey, mixed with water & ice (trying to ward off this cold/flu that seems to be all around)
